The month kicks off with the Annual Powder Hounds Art Auction & Pet Photo Contest Kick-Off Event! and Ska Lager Release Party, both of which are taking place at the Ska Brewing Company. The auction features a variety of local art pieces and pet photos, with all proceeds going to the La Plata County Humane Society. Meanwhile, the Ska Lager Release Party celebrates the release of the brewery’s new lager with live music, food trucks, and, of course, beer!
On March 10th, the Friends of the Library Book Sale takes place at the Durango Public Library, offering book lovers a chance to score some great reads at discounted prices. This annual event is always popular, so be sure to get there early.

Art lovers won’t want to miss the “Revel in Play: Seize the Moment” Art Exhibit at Stillwater Music, which runs from January 27th through March 31st. This exhibit features all new abstract paintings by local artist Heather Freeman and is in partnership with Durango Creative District’s Incubator for Emerging Artists.
The USASA Giant Slalom takes place at Purgatory Resort on March 11th, featuring competitors racing to see who’s the fastest down the giant slalom course while testing their technical skills at navigating the course gates. This race is part of The United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association’s Southwest Colorado competition series and is the first step in the Olympic pipeline for snowboarding and freeskiing.
Later that day, join in on the Durango Snowshoe, Hot Chocolate & A Treat event, which includes a mid-morning snowshoe followed by a meet-up at Animas Chocolate and Coffee Company for a warm beverage and a chocolate truffle.
For those looking for an evening of live music, the High Country Hustle with special guest Morsel at Animas City Theatre on March 11th is sure to satisfy. This 21+ event costs $17-$20 and promises a night of great music.
On March 10th, Animas City Theatre presents An Evening with Keller Williams, a unique and intimate concert experience that’s sure to delight.
St. Patrick’s Day 2023 is also celebrated in Durango, with the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad hosting a live music event on March 17th. Attendees can enjoy great music while taking in the scenic beauty of Durango.
